On January 1st, the vessel "Haigang Zhiyuan" successfully completed a 3,000-ton methanol
bunkering operation for the "Anne Maersk" at Yangshan Port. This marks
the first such operation of 2025 and signals the start of regular
methanol bunkering at the port.
Methanol, with its low emissions, is becoming a key alternative marine
fuel. "Haigang Zhiyuan," the first methanol bunkering vessel at Shanghai
Port, features 12 cargo tanks with a total capacity of 16,000 cubic
meters. It enables ship-to-ship bunkering while supporting container
operations, boosting efficiency and sustainability.
To ensure safe operations, the Yangshan Port MSA implemented
comprehensive safety measures and emergency plans. They coordinated
closely with pilot stations, terminal operators, and shipping companies,
overseeing the entire process through dedicated monitoring.
Following this successful bunkering, two more methanol operations are
planned for January. Yangshan Port will continue to refine its methanol
bunkering services, reinforcing Shanghai's position as a green fuel hub
and international shipping center.
