On January 7, 2025, BYD proudly launched its first self-built roll-on/roll-off vessel (PCTC), the “BYD HEFEI,” marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards enhancing its global logistics capabilities. This vessel is not just another addition to BYD’s fleet, but a powerful symbol of the company's deepened control over its international supply chain.

The BYD HEFEI is a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly ship, measuring 199.9 meters in length and 38 meters in width, with a capacity to carry 7,000 vehicles. Powered by LNG dual-fuel technology, this vessel reduces CO2 emissions by 30%, aligning with BYD’s commitment to sustainability and its goal of contributing to a greener planet.

This launch follows the earlier introduction of BYD EXPLORER NO.1 and BYD CHANGZHOU, which were leased from Zodiac Maritime and constructed at the Yantai Raffles Shipyard. However, the BYD HEFEI is the first ship BYD has built as a shipowner, constructed at the GSI shipyard in Guangdong, China—a key step toward achieving supply chain independence and reinforcing BYD’s global presence.

With global sales of 4.27 million vehicles in 2024, BYD continues to lead the charge in the electric vehicle revolution, having expanded its footprint to over 100 countries. The BYD HEFEI significantly enhances the company’s ability to meet growing international demand for electric vehicles while reducing shipping costs and improving logistics efficiency.
