The 2nd APSN President Meeting in 2024 was held virtually on September 24. Ms. Sonya Read, President of the APSN Council; Mr. Jiravich Klomperee, Second Vice President of the APSN Council; Mr. Fei Weijun, Dr. Geraldine Knatz and Dr. Jia Dashan, APSN Senior Consultant Team, and the Secretariat led by Dr. Li Qing, Secretary-General, were in attendance.
The 2nd President Meeting was chaired by Ms. Sonya Read, President of the APSN Council. Mr. Jiravich Klomperee, Mr. Fei Weijun, Dr. Geraldine Knatz and Dr. Jia Dashan and Capt. Nazri Bin Abu Hasan, Division Director, Shipping & Seafarers Development Division, Malaysia Marine Department (MMD) delivered remarks at the Opening Session. Mr. Li Qing, Secretary-General of APSN, welcomed all participants to join the meeting.
The meeting had extensive discussions on the preparatory work of the APSN events 2024, including the APSN Forum 2024, the 16th Meeting of the APSN Council and the 13th Meeting of the Advisory Board. The meeting noted with appreciation of the outstanding preparatory work that has been done by the Secretariat in terms of developing a high-quality program for the APSN Forum 2024 and securing senior officials from international organizations and industry leaders from the port and shipping sectors as well as experts from leading consultation agencies to speak at the APSN Forum 2024. The meeting also noted with appreciation of the hosting arrangements by MMD, including setting up the meeting venue, planning the technical visit, designing backdrops, and inviting local stakeholders to join the APSN Forum 2024, and etc.
The 2nd President Meeting also discussed the key agenda items of the next Council Meeting and paved the way well for its successful outcome to be delivered this October.
The APSN President Team expressed their sincere gratitude to Malaysia for hosting the APSN events 2024 and to the Secretariat for its excellent preparation for organizing this President Meeting.
