Jul 29, 2022

Ports across China moved a total of 142.3 million TEU over the first half of 2022, a 3 per cent year-on-year increase. During the same period, the cargo volume of Chinese ports stood at 7580 million tons, a slight decline of 0.8 per cent year-on-year.

The port of Shanghai saw the largest traffic in volumes, moving 3.79 million TEU in June, although the figure accounts for a decline of 9.5 per cent compared to the previous year.

Earlier this month, the authorities of Shanghai ordered further rounds of COVID-19 testing following the discovery of new cases – as the city had only just started enjoying signs of recovery.

The port of Ningbo-Zhoushan enjoyed the second-best result, moving a total of 3.16 million TEU in June, up 17.9 per cent year-on-year.
