APSN GPAS Workshop will be held on 17-18 April, 2018 in Beijing China.
“Fostering Sustainable, Innovative and Inclusive Growth” is one of the key subjects of the 2017 APEC theme and promoting the green sustainable development of port industry is an essential action to face the challenge of the global energy crisis and environmental degradation and to strengthen the sustainability of the economy growth in the APEC region.
APEC Port Services Network (APSN) as an international organization regarding port industry under the auspices of the APEC, concentrated on the green ports and sustainable development of port industry since 2011 and developed the Green Port Award System (GPAS) which is an evaluation system to promote the green growth of the APEC port industry. In particular, it aims to provide a platform for sharing of best practices among ports in the APEC region, to raise the profile of ports committed to green practices, and to improve their capacity for sustainable development. GPAS programme was officially launched in 2016 and during its inaugural year, seven ports from four APEC member economies were awarded the GPAS Award in Nov. 2016 in Penang, Malaysia. Eight Ports from 5 economies applied the GPAS 2017.
The GPAS workshop will introduce the GPAS, analysis the evaluation indicator system, share the best practice of the green ports and green technology in port industry. It is expected that about 100 participants from the public and private sectors of the port and port-related industries of the APEC member economies will attend this Workshop. Distinguished speakers and panelists will be invited to make presentations at the Workshop and to have interactive discussions with participants.
